With almost ten years as a motion picture producer, and 15 years behind the lens as a photographer, I yearn to lend my expertise to students who want to get hands-on learning in those fields. Tutoring is an individualized process, taking each students needs and dreams into account. To really reach a student's potential, it helps to give him or her the tools needed to understand the photographic and cinematographic process, but also to help explore their creative sides by looking inside themselves for inspiration and drive. By doing this, every student can learn, have fun and truly explore the stories and thoughts he or she wants to express through images, moving and still.
The art of cinema and the art of photography allow the creators a chance to show others what they see through their eyes. As spectators, we are forced to view another's perspective to hear another's story and to see what someone else's eyes see. This is the greatest power that these arts have. For children of all ages, this is such an important tool to help them feel they are being heard and understood. I hope that, through teaching and helping students hone their photographic and cinematographic skills, I can help them express their thoughts, fears, hopes, imaginations, reflections and awe.
I have a degree in Cinema and Photography from Southern Illinois University and have been published in Chicago Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, The Onion and more. My film work has been featured in multiple national, local and international press outlets. With this wealth of experience, I am eager to share my expertise in the art of photography and cinema as well as insight into the business side of these crafts.
