Hello, there! My name is Caitlin, and I am a senior at DePaul University studying Spanish and performance studies. I will be graduating in June and will be TEFL certified by May. My minor in performance studies is through the College of Communication, so I am qualified to help with public speaking. Not only have I been studying Spanish since my freshman year of high school, but I have also studied abroad in Madrid September-December 2011 to improve my Spanish speaking skills. I have also had an internship at Multilingual Chicago, an organization that sets up inexpensive language intensive camps in Spanish, Mandarin, Polish, and French. During this time I used Spanish everyday in the work place whether it was for translating comment cards or explaining a work project. I am currently working at the Lycée Francais de Chicago (The French International School) with pre-k-5th grade students in the after school program. I was a summer camp counselor and ran their summer camp blog in 2012. During my time at the Lycée, I have helped students with their English, created crafts, and assisted teachers when going on field trips. My other achievements include being selected to go to Albuquerque, New Mexico for an anti-racism conference, being a curator for an upcoming performance art show, achieving the Dean's list for my entire college career, attending Catholic school since kindergarten (certified to teach Bible studies), finishing the performance studies minor with numerous special recognitions, and being part of Sigma Delta Pi, the Spanish Honors Society. I also have eight years of dance experience and can teach introductory ballet, hip hop, and tap. I also understand the importance of different learning abilities. Finally, there often tends to be an emphasis on visual learning study skills in the education system, and as an auditory learner I have self-taught study skills that have helped me succeed in college and high school. I can teach creative study skills that focus on visual, auditory, and hands on abilities.
