SCAD Grad For Art and Six Years Tutoring Children

I participated in a Peer to peer tutoring program on the campus of The Savannah College of art and design(which I attended). I assisted others in the study of many computer software programs: Maya, Adobe Photoshop, UDK, 3D Studio Max and Adobe illustrator. Having tutored during college has given me a willingness to teach and learn. I have experience as both a tutor of colleagues and children.

I am an African American Male who has six years of experience tutoring and mentoring low income children with disabilities. Having tutored children with ADHD, dyslexia, autism and children with emotional disorders has made me well rounded with many types of children. I have tutored children within 2nd through 10th grade for six years now, Two of those years asked of me managing a learning center. I have tremendous patience and feel that children bring the best out of me.

Special Needs

I have tutored at a learning center for four years and manged for two. The learning center specialized in children with learning disabilities. This allowed for me to experience working with children with autism, dyslexia, Attention deficit, Aspergers syndrome and other learning disabilities. I have looked over many I.E.P and 504 files while doing so and am comfortable with children with these disorders.

Adobe Flash

I was an Educational Software developer for three years. Testing with children on site of a learning center gives me the ability to teach, but also allowed me a lot of experience with action script and flash.

Chess

Have trained children in chess as a means to teach patience, forward think and even teach priorities. I have developed systems to break down every piece and teach children of the origin and history of that piece and how it helps to the over all purpose of the game. Have done this through out a span of five years of working at a learning center.

Drawing

I attended the Savannah College of art and design and gained a BFA. Having to take a drawing one, two and life drawing course was only a tip of the iceberg of the many art mediums that I was exposed to during my four years in college.

ADD/ADHD

I have been a Managerial Consultant for two years now. Working at a specialized tutoring center which deals mostly with children with disabilities, I have taught children with ADD to use relaxation techniques and change their diet as a means to greatly increase their focus. Having immense patience and compassion I have grown to in fact enjoy children who have an intense excitement for learning.
