As the Renaissance Tutor I am highly qualified to tutor students of all ages in reading comprehension, writing, English, literature, and philosophy!
I attended the University of Texas at Austin where I received my Bachelor's degree in Philosophy with departmental honors, finishing with a 3.91 GPA. In December of 2011, I received my MA in Humanities from the University of Chicago. The interdisciplinary nature of the Master's program gave me the opportunity improve my knowledge of literature and literary theory in addition to philosophy. Also, writing a graduate thesis provided me an opportunity to refine the writing and editing skills I developed as an undergrad.
My goal is to translate this diverse academic history into the tutor position in order to help students of all ages and skill sets to become comfortable reading, writing and thinking through a range of material. I tailor my teaching methods to accommodate the uniqueness of each student.
When I'm not reading literature or philosophy, you can find me playing basketball. I have been playing since I was young, with organized experience at the middle school, high school and adult level. I see basketball and academics as closely related: both require a commitment to hard work and practice. Sports are a great opportunity not only to exercise, but also to engage with the world in a different way.
As the Renaissance Tutor, I love the opportunity to help students from high school through the college level, whether it be to improve reading comprehension, proofread drafts or work on subject comprehension. I look forward to meeting you!
