ADD/ADHD

I spent a year of training for my doctorate in clinical psychology at a pediatric developmental center diagnosing and providing recommendations for children with attention, learning and behavior difficulties. I am currently at a similar site, where I am learning a curriculum for executive functioning in schools, which provides teaching instructions for students with ADHD and other difficulties in planning and organization. Furthermore, my dissertation is on children with ADHD and attentional difficulties due to mood disorders.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have experience tutoring children K-6 from a variety of experiences. I volunteered at Mujeres Latinas En Accion, and tutored children whose mothers were survivors of domestic abuse. I was also a private tutor for 2 years, tutoring 3 children grades 2-8.

Study Skills

I teach a college level course titled academic skills for success, which encompasses study skills; I worked at the academic learning center at my university where I helped students figure out strategies that helped them learn better; and I am getting training in an elementary level executive function curriculum that helps children stay organized, focus, and be able to plan ahead.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
