Hi, my name is Carrie and I have a Masters of Arts in Teaching Secondary Education degree from National-Louis University. I hold a Type 09 certificate in Social Science with endorsements in U.S. History, World History, Civics/Political Science and Middle School Social Science. Along with those subject areas, I am able to tutor students in geography, psychology, and sociology.
Although I am not endorsed in English, I am currently a writer for a weekly newspaper where I've honed my writing and editing skills. With these skills, I am able to help students write essays or research papers on a variety of topics. I am also willing to tutor students from K-3 in reading, writing, phonics, grammar, spelling and elementary math.

My goal is to help students become dynamic writers and critical thinkers who understand history and current events. I want students to expand their minds and be confident in their abilities. One of my signature teaching methods is to provide real world or current event examples to help students understand history and the world around them.

Phonics

I was an AIM High reading tutor for high school students while also teaching Social Studies during the school day. As a reading tutor I helped students understand phonics so they would comprehend what they were reading. Through my tutoring methods the students left the program with higher reading skills.

Social Studies

I have a Type 09 teaching certificate in the area of Social Studies for grades 6-12. I have been a Social Studies teacher for the past 8 years. During that time I also tutored students at my school who were having trouble understanding social studies concepts.

How do I receive a discount?

Save between 5 and 15% on tutoring by purchasing credit with one of our prepaid discount packages. You can buy one of our standard 5, 10 or 15% packages or customize your own package based on how much tutoring you need. The credit you purchase can be used towards any tutor at any time and does not expire. If you do not use the entire package, we will simply deduct what you did spend on tutoring from your original purchase price and give you a refund. Discount packages start as low as $190.
