I am a collaborative, results-focused tutor specializing in test prep and admissions consulting.
At the college and post-college levels, I provide the following tutoring services: resume writing, particularly for pre-MBA and post-MBA candidates; MBA Admissions consulting; GMAT test preparation; and advanced Excel & PowerPoint skills.
I have read hundreds of resumes from applicants across industries, for both peer review and on behalf of my employer. My peers have landed offers from top companies in a variety of industries, aided by the revisions I've suggested for their resumes and LinkedIn profiles. My resume coaching has helped increase the number of students from my alma mater successfully getting onto interview closed lists, and progressing from Round 1 to Round 2 interviews and securing offers. I can help you think through what elements of your experience should be highlighted for a specific graduate program or employer, and how to message these in order to best position yourself on paper and in the interview.
At the high school level, I provide the following tutoring services: Honors Chemistry; SAT test preparation; and Admissions & scholarship application consulting
I trained with Kaplan Test Prep and taught multiple classes at a time over a two-year period. I have learned a variety of tools to help students learn test-taking skills, build their vocabularies, and make learning fun. For parents, though, the results speak for themselves - former students of mine gained, on average, over 225 points on the three-section SAT. Students who show an above-average commitment to their test prep homework have gained as much as 420 points on the SAT and have been accepted at colleges previously out of reach, due to their impressive score gains. For students with the aptitude to be competitive for academic scholarships, I offer admissions and scholarship applications consulting. Having attended college on a prestigious full-tuition, four-year scholarship awarded on the basis of scholarship, leadership, service and character, I know what it takes for a student to compete for highly competitive academic scholarships.
I am particularly successful as an Honors Chemistry tutor. This is a subject I love to teach. My approach breaks down the somewhat tough material in a way that students can relate to something in their day-to-day lives. I believe in teaching for understanding, not to test-and-forget, and can turn around a C+ to an A- in a matter of weeks.
