I am a skilled educator with experience teaching students in elementary, middle, high school and college. I have taught a variety of subjects including English, Chinese, US History, World History, Anthropology, Math, and Creative Writing. I have a Master's Degree from the University of Chicago in Social Science Research. In this program, I studied the methodology of a variety of fields, including sociology, history, psychology, political science, and anthropology. I am a flexible, knowledgeable and compassionate teacher, and I am confident that I can achieve excellent results.

Chinese

I hold a degree in Chinese from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I studied both Chinese culture and Mandarin. In 2007, I spent eight months studying Mandarin intensively in an immersion program in Beijing, China. I reached conversational fluency during this time. If selected as a tutor, I can teach a specific method of memorizing characters. This is often considered the hardest part of learning to speak Chinese.

Anthropology

I hold both a BA and an MA in Anthropology. I received a BA, with highest honors, from the University of North Carolina in May, 2009. I received an MA degree from the University of Chicago in December, 2012. In the summer of 2011, I instructed anthropology to a class of 20 highly gifted 10, 11, and 12th grade students, at the Duke Talent Identification Program.
