Princeton graduate tutoring for math/ELA/social studies

Hi! My name is Snow and I'm currently a Chicago Public Schools teacher with the Teach for America program. I graduated from Princeton University in 2011 with a degree in history and certificates in east Asian studies and visual arts. I am currently teaching special education for grades K through 5 for all subjects (English, writing, phonics, math, geometry, science, and social studies) and am looking to expand my teaching career to tutoring as well. I'm willing and able to teach math up to algebra II and geometry and reading comprehension, phonics, and writing for all grade levels (k-12). I have a lot of experience working with students who struggle academically and behaviorally and have had great success with my special education classrooms. Students on average have made over 1.3 years improvement in reading growth and 2.5 years' in math. I am currently teaching elementary special education (k-5) in a Chicago Public School. I teach all subjects (math, ELA, social studies, and science). I am certified to teach k-12 special education under my Illinois teaching certificate (alternative special education).

ADD/ADHD

I am currently a CPS teacher who works with many students diagnosed with ADD/ADHD. I am familiar with behavioral plans, incentives, and appropriate movement breaks for these students. I am also familiar with the use of sensory toys to help these students focus. I am an advocate for kinesthetic and visual learning, which guides many of these students to success in the classrooms. I have a certification to teach in the state of Illinois. My certification is Alternative Special Education.

Aspergers

I am currently a CPS teacher who works with many students diagnosed with with Aspergers or are on the autistic spectrum. I am familiar with behavioral plans, incentives, and appropriate movement breaks for these students. I know that these students require black and white in their routine. They also need certain guidelines and consistency in their learning. I have a certification to teach in the state of Illinois. My certification is Alternative Special Education.

Dyslexia

I am currently a CPS teacher who works with many students diagnosed with learning disabilities. I am familiar with many of the accommodations and modifications necessary for students with dyslexia. The majority of my classroom last year did not know how to read or recognize the alphabet when I started teaching. I was able to raise their growth on average 1.3 years. I have a certification to teach in the state of Illinois. My certification is Alternative Special Education.
