I'm a very patient and effective tutor for young adults, both in individual and small group settings. I have broad teaching experience, and a knack for communication which tends to quiet fears and instill enthusiasm. In addition to an undergraduate degree in English, with a minor in History, I have a PhD. in Philosophy from the University of Chicago, with extensive work in Logic and Classical Languages.
I have taught Logic courses at Louisiana State University and at Roosevelt University in Chicago, and I taught courses in Logic, Aristotle and History of Modern Philosophy at McGill University in Montreal. In addition, I have tutored students, both individually and in groups, in English, Latin, classical Greek and Logic. Although I liked classroom teaching, I have always felt that I was at my best in a tutoring situation, where there is more reciprocity between student and teacher, and greater opportunity for flexibility in the rate at which material is covered, and in the method of approach. I look forward to guiding students through coursework and through the process of preparing for standardized tests.
