I recently graduated from UIC with a Master's degree in Special Education. as well as earned a Master's of Arts in Teaching from National-Louis University. I am certified to teach English to students ranging from 6th through 12th grades, and will soon be certified in teaching Special Education to students from K-12th grades. In addition to my educational background, I have taught and tutored for about 5 years now as a classroom teacher as well as a one-on-one tutor at students' homes. I am particularly passionate about teaching in the urban classroom, and tutoring urban students. I've tutored adults and children in subjects including study skills, college counseling, English as a Second Language, test prep, homework help, Basic Math and Writing,
I specialize in tutoring students with test anxiety, learning challenges, and challenges with language. My strategies include: using kinesthetic and visual techniques to make learning fun, incorporating short breaks/games related to subject-matter in the lesson, and organizing lessons into chunks.
