Greetings!
My name is Benjellica (you can also call me Ellie) and I may be the ideal tutor for you!
I am a certified teacher experienced with elementary, middle school, early high school and adult learners. I am a graduate of Wake Forest University (I majored in Education) and I am pursuing a Master's degree in Special Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
As a tutor, I focus on using the theory of multiple intelligences--the belief that people learn in different ways and the best approach varies based on student learning styles. I have found that this method best enables students who are struggling in a specific area, as it teaches how to gain success on their own by embracing their particular learning style.
Teaching using multiple intelligences works for students of all ages, backgrounds and experiences. I also incorporate hands-on, concrete learning experiences as well as work that mirrors the assignments from a student's daily school work and exams.
As part of my undergraduate training in Education, I completed coursework studying accommodation and adaptation of methods for student learning. I also have experience with assistive technology and teaching students with special needs in the classroom.
I collaborate with students (and parents) to create the direction of our sessions based on the student's learning style and needs. I will also establish practices that will help students continue learning successfully after our sessions have ended. I will do my very best to promote sustainable student success.
I look forward to hearing from you soon!
