I am an experienced multi-lingual musician (Portuguese, Spanish, English) who has had experience playing piano, violin, saxophone and I sing, too.
Although I don't have a degree in music, I earned more than 60 credit hours in Music, including the study of Violin and Piano. I started playing piano over 20 years ago. I started playing violin over 15 years ago. My first violin student was over 10 years ago. Since then, I've worked in a number of education facilities and have taught privately including with the Chicago Park District and with a grant through the city of Chicago teaching music. I have spent the last 9 years working in a university as a secretary. So, education has been a part of my working life continuously for 12 years. I wanted to go back to doing one thing that I loved to do before I worked at a university... teaching music!!!
I've played for the Chicago All-City Youth Orchestra and for the Chicago Protege Philharmonic and for the NEIU String Orchestra. I've performed at numerous venues throughout the Chicagoland area.
My goal with students is to NOT give them busy work, but to focus on their weakness, so that they become a better musician. I also speak Portuguese and Spanish, so I can teach those who speak those language.
