Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult at the age of 25, while I was completing my master's degree. After graduate school, I served as an administrator at institutions of higher education. I have worked closely with dozens of students with ADHD/ADD in developing their talents, addressing behavior concerns, and assisting with their academic success.

Art Theory

I am an emerging artist who has worked in numerous mediums and styles, and who's work has appeared in dozens of group shows, festivals and charitable events. Sale of my work for charities has raised more than $24,000 to date.

My success and the positive reception o my artwork is demonstration of my adept skills pertaining to Art Theory. Examples of my work are available upon request.

Drawing

I have dedicated thousands of hours to becoming experienced with using ink and colored pencil in several styles. These styles include pointillism, cubism, pop-cubism, and minimalism. Some of these works have taken over 300 hours to complete.

Microsoft Outlook

In my last position, I was responsible for management of the department email account, and some months we'd receive over 100 emails which I would need to respond to individually. I have used Outlook extensively for the past five years.

Microsoft Publisher

I have used Publisher extensively in the past to create training materials for staff training. These documents sometimes exceeded 150 pages.

Painting

I have hundreds of hours invested into developing my skills with acrylic and watercolor paints. I have used paint to create works in pointillism, cubism and minimalism styles, and my works have appeared in numerous group exhibits and have been auctioned for charitable events, one of my works was signed by the 2011 Chicago Blackhawks and sold for a $20,000 charitable donation to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Samples of my work are available upon request.

Public Speaking

I possess several years of negotiation experience, crisis response, and experience working with students and their behavior concerns.

These experiences have honed my ability to speak publicly to varying sized groups of people and always maintain composure and deliver desired messages and learning outcomes in an effective and entertaining way.

I have given tours, presentations and speeches to audiences ranging from several individuals to several thousand attendees.

Special Needs

I have specialized training as a PATH facilitator (Planning Alternative Tomorrows with Hope) through the Illinois Association of Microboards and Cooperatives. This course would complete 20 hours of CEU/CPDU, and focused on incorporating drawing as a means to help developmentally disabled individuals visualize their futures.
