Professional and Experience Personal Tutor in ALL Subjects

Through my training and experience I am confident that I can help any child succeed in any subject. I am willing to work one-on-one or in small groups with K-12 and college students in their homes, at my office, or at their schools. The subjects that I currently tutor include: algebra, geometry, calculus, trigonometry, physics, biology, chemistry, Spanish, phonics and fluency, reading comprehension, grammar and mechanics, college and scholarship applications, as well as preparation for all sections of the TOEFL, EPT, ACT, SAT, PSAT, SSAT, ISAT, ISEE, HSPT, and CPS Selective Enrollment. I have also had a great deal of experience working with students with learning difficulties such as Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, Visual Processing, ADD/ADHD, etc. You name it, I can help!

By learning and practicing self-monitoring, organizational, and study techniques, you will gain the tools to become a successful life-long learner - even after tutoring/teaching has ceased. Algebra 2

With a math minor and years of experience teaching math in the classroom, I am extremely proficient in this subject area. I know how to make math fun and relevant for students. I use a multitude of tools, such as technology, diagrams, and real-life examples, to help make this difficult subject more understandable.

Biology

With a biology degree and years of experience teaching biology in the classroom, I am extremely proficient in this subject area. I know how to make science fun and relevant for students. I use a multitude of tools, such as technology, diagrams, and real-life examples, to help make this difficult subject more understandable.

English

After years of teaching and tutoring, I know the areas that students struggle with in English. I am confident that I can help native and non-native speakers master the skills necessary to become well-spoken and well-writen. Whether it's preparing for a important standardized tests, like the ACT, SAT, HSPT, or ISEE, or completing an assignment for an English class, I know how to increase students' comprehension.

ACT Reading

I have a great deal of training and experience teaching students the skills necessary to be successful at this section of the test. After working with countless students and reviewing hundreds of practice tests, I know the most efficient ways to prep students for this important exam.

Elementary (K-6th)

I taught 7th grade for 4 years. As such, I was familiar with the curriculum my students learned in the years before they entered middle school. I have also tutored several elementary students, especially in the subjects of reading, writing and math.

Phonics

I have completed extensive training on how to teach students Phonics skills.

Study Skills

I have assisted all of my students with improving their study and organizational skills. My goal with every student is to teach them the tools of HOW to learn, so that they can continue to be successful in the future.

Public Speaking

I have assisted several college students with their public speaking and speech courses. I can help you narrow in on a topic, do background research, organize the information, and edit the transitions and grammar. I know what speech professors look for in an effective speech and I can help you accomplish that.

CBEST

I have 4 teaching credentials (2 in California and 2 in Illinois), and thus know the CBEST extremely well.

COOP/HSPT

I have assisted many middle school students in preparation for these tests so that they can enroll in the high school of their choice.

Dyslexia

I have assisted several students with Dyslexia and Dyscalculia. In addition to my personal experience with these Learning Difficulites, I have also recieved extensive training on how to maximize learning despite these challenges.

ISEE

I have helped several students to prepare for this annual standardized test.
