As the modern world continues to grow increasingly interconnected, modern educators must step-up to the role of providing students with the cross-cultural skills necessary to succeed in this new global setting. Parents and students looking for an education that will improve upon the core skills of language, cultural awareness, history, philosophy and more can be confident in my 8 years of experience in education. 2+ years were teaching English to K-12 students and adults in Romania, half a year teaching English and classroom assistance with elementary students in Germany, 4 years tutoring in Chicago schools with the America Reads tutoring program, half a year after-school volunteering with K-8 students at the American Indian Center of Chicago and a half year working with at risk youth at the Knox County Teen Court and at the Carver Community Action Center of Galesburg, IL.
My diverse experiences in education have taught me to emphasize student-centered lessons that improve a student's education by incorporating his or her strengths and interests in an applicable and meaningful manner. Learning should be fun, interactive and hands-on as much as possible, but not to an extent where other skills or disciplines are overshadowed.
Languages, cultures and national histories that I am very well qualified to teach are English (American), Romanian, German (Germany) and Hungarian. I place heavy importance on developing a strong command of oral and written English as well as of critical thinking skills.
