I am Asian-American, fluent in Japanese. I lived and worked as a translator in Tokyo, Japan for eight years, working at Japan's largest banking companies. I have over ten years of experience working as a translator at Japanese companies. I passed Level 1 (N1) of the Japanese Proficiency Exam twice, once in 2005 and the second in 2013. I also have a master's in Japanese education at DePaul University. As a tutor, I always try to listen to my students' requests first and work towards their goals. I try to create lesson plans that are fun and have your needs in mind. Or, I am always happy to sit back and help you with whatever you need.

One year of foreign language at a college level, and you`ll be at least be able to buy groceries from the street. So, why don`t we teach our children foreign language in foreign language class? My sister took 8 years... read more

In college I discovered the wonderful world of Japanese culture and literature, so I made it my goal to become fluent in Japanese. It has been more than ten years since (time passes fast) but I have lived in Tokyo for more than 8 years, and worked in the banking industry as a translator for over 7 years... read more

Excellent Tutor, Great with Beginners — I am writing this review from Japan, where I am right now making my way around with my newly acquired Japanese language skills, courtesy of Clara's tutoring! I contacted Clara for some fairly last-minute language tutoring before my trip this summer. I was starting from absolute scratch, with no experience in the language. One month later, and I am genuinely able to carry out basic interactions wit ...
