I am an experienced educator with a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education from the University of Michigan. I am currently teaching Advanced Placement Social Science Courses at one of the top high schools Chicago. I have previously taught middle and high school social studies and biology. In terms of tutoring experience I was the director of an after-school tutoring program at my previous school in the Detroit area. Furthermore I work with a tutoring organization that focuses on helping students with ADHD succeed in school. As a tutor I primarily help students in math, science, and writing. I have received praise from parents and students for my dedication in helping students succeed and raise their grades. I have also been commended on my ability to motivate students to be more and engaged in their studies and take ownership of their own academic progress, growth I achieve by making the material presented in sessions meaningful and fun. I have years of experience tutoring most subjects commonly taught in high school and preparing students for standardized tests (ACT, SAT, GRE, High school placement) and have helped many students improve their scores.

When I begin working with a student I always take the time to get to know the individual’s learning style. I adapt my lessons and tutoring methods to best fit the student’s needs. Beyond focusing solely on the student’s coursework, I also help the student develop their own set of study skills to help them become a better learner. When working with students on study strategies, I draw upon my experience teaching Middle School Study Skills and implementing successful study practices in my Advanced Placement United States History Class where my students averaged a four on the Advanced Placement test. I stay up to date with all the latest research to ensure I am providing the best study strategies possible.

I am also an experienced voice and piano instructor having earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from the University of Michigan and teaching both instruments for the past three years. I aim to teach my students how to understand music and explore their own creativity. Therefore I allow students to learn a variety of repertoire including classical, jazz and pop. Also I incorporate songwriting, composition and improvisation skills when teaching technique and theory. Parents have been pleased with my ability to keep music fun while advancing students’ skill level.

I am passionate about teaching and tutoring. I believe that every student has the ability to be successful in any course subject. As a tutor I dedicate myself to helping that student reach their full potential and achieve their goals.
