I am a current graduate student obtaining my MS in Biochemistry. Throughout my undergrad I worked at my schools tutoring center and skills development center. I also started teaching general chemistry laboratory while still an undergrad and I loved it. While working on my masters degree I taught microbiology and the experience was very rewarding. I have been tutoring for 5+ years and still love every minute of it, there is nothing like witnessing the 'I got it' moment a student has when they understand the material. It is also great to see the overall positive change in attitude the students have when they start to excel in the subjects they were struggling with.
My methods leave students with a better understanding of how to solve all types of problems and the tools necessary to succeed without tutoring. Rather than tutoring for a test I tutor to ensure students have a thorough understanding of what the problem is and why it is relevant. It is my goal to tutor students so that they become self reliable and gain through our lessons the problem solving skills necessary for the current courses as well as future courses. Helping someone gain this knowledge and confidence in their studies in the shortest amount of time and sessions necessary is my ultimate goal. I will also always make myself available for questions outside of sessions via phone or email.
Many of my former students have relayed to me how my attitude and teaching style made them feel comfortable, making it easier to focus and comprehend the material.
