Hi, my name is Richard and I am a knowledgeable and experienced tutor in four areas: math, computer programming, databases, and ballroom dancing. I earned my BS with a major in computers and a minor in math at NEIU. In 2010 I completed a Masters in Computer Science from DePaul University. I began tutoring in college where I worked as a peer tutor in math. Since then I have worked with people at many different levels including GED students, college students, and adult learners. I also work as a computer programmer, specializing in database programming. Finally, I have been dancing ballroom for over six years and have completed a 16-month teacher-training program and teach both group and private lessons.
I love teaching and have a patient, easygoing manner. I understand that learning new material can be not only challenging but also frustrating. I am skilled at breaking things down and explaining concepts for my students. I also emphasize and reinforce the fundamentals. This is important in math and computers so that students can develop the skills and confidence to solve problems on their own. This is also important in dance where correctly executed step patterns are the building blocks to grace and fun on the dance floor. Finally, I strive to make sure that my students enjoy their subject matter, so that their overall experience is positive and encourages them to want to keep it up.
