I am doctor of clinical psychology who is in the process of opening a private practice with a focus on Social Thinking(TM) techniques for spectrum clients. While my state license is pending, I would like to offer tutoring services that teach social inferencing and comprehension skills to assist with students' college and/or career paths. My post-doctoral experience includes work with New Connections Academy in Palatine, IL, a therapeutic day school serving children and young adults with Asperger's, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and a variety of other learning and behavioral disabilities. My experience also includes providing in-home Social Thinking sessions based on the works of Marcia Garcia Winner. My other training experiences over the past 7 years have included working with all-ages of individuals, families and groups in hospital, outpatient, community mental health, and school settings with a wide-range of emotional and developmental challenges. I chose my post-doctoral experiences to focus on my area of passion: ASD and other similar developmental disabilities. I feel that my past education and experience has taught me the special requirements of working with ASD/Asperger's population. With this experience, I have found that I am able to quickly adapt to the various sensory, processing, and social learning needs to educate and support this wonderful population.
As a secondary tutoring opportunity, I would like to offer tutoring services to those studying psychology. With more than ten years of studying psychology itself, and now preparing for the EPPP exam, I would be eager and willing to assist anyone else on this career path (or anyone just trying to master their psych class). I can offer a variety of effective studying techniques that assisted my study habits in both undergraduate and graduate school, where I earned a 4.0 and was part of the Psi Chi National Honors Society of Psychology. If you are struggling, or just need that extra boost to get through a difficult course, I'm here to help!
