As a student in high school, I was not the strongest in most subjects. Because I struggled in a lot of my classes, I instructed myself on how to understand what was being taught through my own methods of education and learning. I know how to teach and tutor very well, because I went through my own struggles of understanding and comprehension throughout my schooling. I manage to tutor in a way that helps students remain calm, collected, and truly think outside the box in discovering the answers for themselves.
At the American Academy of Art in Chicago, I was an English tutor and proofreader from 2005-2009. I helped my classmates read through essays and instructed them on how to properly cite their papers and use correct grammar. I also have been a swim instructor for 10 years, and have worked closely with all ages of children (and adults). As a swim instructor, I have experience working with children who have had behavioral, developmental, and learning difficulties. I am currently a lifeguard instructor and teach classes in CPR, First Aid, AED, and Lifeguarding.
As for my art capabilities, I have a Bachelor of Fine Art in Illustration. I can teach students how to use oil, watercolor, and acrylic paint, as well as how to draw with charcoal, colored pencil, graphite, oil pastel, pastel, and pen and ink. I am extremely easy to work with, patient, and can help students grasp learning concepts in a different way.
