I am a certified elementary teacher with four years of experience as an elementary school teacher (3 years of middle school Language
Arts and Reading
and one year of all subjects) as well as seven years as a substitute teacher, three years as a reading tutor for small groups and one year as a math
tutor for small groups (Title I grades Kindergarten
through Eighth), and three years of individual tutoring in all elementary subjects. Each of these experiences has given me insights, strategies, and exposure to a wide variety of curricula and approaches.
I have also had the pleasure of helping adult students prepare for the GED
and College Placement tests.
I completed my post-graduate teacher's certification program at Northeastern Illinois University with a 4.0 average. I graduated college summa cum laude (3.8 out of 4.0) and was one of the few students inducted into my college's honor society. I also have a master's degree which I completed cum laude.
My greatest joy is when my students grasp a concept and start making connections and growing as learners. Different learners learn differently so I tailor my tutoring to their learning styles, strengths, and challenges. I make learning fun for my students, injecting humor, focusing on their interests, and helping them experience the joy of success!
As a mother of two sons, who are now in college, I bring a nurturing approach to my tutoring of younger students and practical life experience to my tutoring of older students.
As a student, I struggled with math until I learned how to teach it. There are many ways to solve a math problem and I really enjoy finding strategies that work best for my students.

Percent means per 100 so you write the percent as your numerator and 100 as your denominator. Then find the Greatest Common Factor of the numerator and denominator and divide both by that. For example 65 % = 65/100. 65 is 5 times 13 and 100 is 5 times
20 so your fraction...
