Welcome to Val's Music Studio!
Whether you are an experienced musician or just in the beginning of your educational journey I can help you to get started, open up your potentials, or bring your skills to the next level.
I began my musical education when I was 5. After getting my Bachelor's in Music Education and Chorus Conducting from Tomsk Musical College in 1990, I was accepted to a Music College by Moscow State Conservatory, where I studied opera and voice. Upon getting my Bachelor in Voice in 1992, I continued my education at the Russian Academy of Music (Gnessin Institute) where I studied vocal pedagogy. Finally, I received my Masters in Voice Performance and Vocal Pedagogy from the Roosevelt University in Chicago (College of Performing Arts - The Music Conservatory) in 1998.
Some of the highlights of my musical career include performances with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Chicago Symphony Orchestra Chorus as well as Chicago Grant Park Chorus. I received "The Crescendo Award" at the Chicago's Bel Canto Competition in 1997. I shared the stage with some of the most accomplished artists in classical music: Samuel Ramey, Dmitry Hvorostovsky, Eva Marton, Matti Salmonen, Daniel Barenboim, and Pierre Boulez to name a few. In addition, I participated in master classes with some of the biggest names in opera: Evgeny Nesterenko, Galina Vishnevskaya and Deborah Voight.
Furthermore, I've been continuously involved in production and promotion of contemporary music with a number of diverse artists and collectives. Two of my students recently signed a record deal with Columbia Records (and enjoying their first #1 dance hit on Billboard charts!). Another student of mine got a gig touring with Jill Scott. My students have been cast in different musical theater and operatic productions around the country. I've been coaching many local and international singers, musicians and bands, and have been helping them to further their careers.
I have an extensive experience in teaching voice technique, music theory, solfege and piano domestically and internationally (Paris , Moscow, Dubai) and I have worked with a wide variety of musical genres (Classical, Musical Theatre, Jazz, R&B, Pop). My main goal in teaching is to provide my students with strong knowledge, as well as to develop professional attitude, build up the skills that are necessary for future success, and to motivate them to expand and improve their own talents. I pride myself in assisting my students with help on discovering their artistic potential, guiding them to overcome obstacles to make the most of their training. I stress nurturing my students' natural talents and help them to reach their musical goals. I welcome all students who would like to gain or improve their skills in a great learning environment.
