I have always loved teaching students from elementary to college levels. I've tutored science and math throughout high school and college. I've also edited college essays and provided general writing and editing services.

This past year, I worked as a teaching fellow at Harvard Extension School in Biology and tutored high school AP Calculus. I also taught at MATCH Community Day School in Boston focusing on literacy and math skills with English Language Learners. I've also had extensive classroom experience directing and teaching an afterschool program for elementary school students, focusing on literacy, grammar, reading comprehension, and math.

My greatest strength is tailoring my teaching style to the specific needs of the student and developing study habits to encourage academic independence.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have tutored and taught elementary K-6th for the last four years at an afterschool program in Boston, with extensive experience in grades 1-4. My teaching experience ranges from one-on-one mentoring to leading a classroom. I focused on improving literacy performance on the MCAS through reading comprehension and writing skills. I also taught a variety of math areas, including basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, as well as fractions, measurement, telling time, and word problems. Having worked with many students, I am very quick in determining a child's learning style and using creative approaches to help them best learn the material.
