Hello,
I am Charmie and I graduated from National-Louis University with a Master of Arts degree in elementary education. I worked as a microbiologist for 11 years in the pharmaceutical field before deciding on a career change. I made the decision to become a teacher so that I could inspire children to learn.
My goal is simple: to use my knowledge to assist those in need of a helping hand. I want to make a difference in the lives of other by having the satisfaction of teaching today’s youth; they are our future. The major reason for a career change to education was the realization that as a teacher I would be inspired to continue my own learning. One motivation that inspires me to teach is “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” - Proverbs 22:6
I love teaching because I enjoy hard work and helping others find success. My intermediate goal is to work in the field of education for several years while earning my Doctorate of Education in educational leadership at Argosy University. I have never been a tutor, however in my current position as a 4th /5th grade special education teacher, I like to help my students to engage in meaningful and interesting learning activities that apply to their lives. I accomplish this through the use of hands-on/minds-on activities, cooperative learning, an integrated curriculum, and, whenever possible, technology.
