To whom this concerns:
My ambition is to be a full time tutor. My experience consists of teaching curriculum in a Lutheran school for four years. I taught science and was in charge of all science fairs. My next assignment was being a teacher/librarian for Chicago Public Schools. I taught library skills and reading for fifteen years.
When teaching science we use the scientific method. We use a lot of hands on experiments and assignments.
I find the students' level using their scores on state tests or from their teacher. I bring them up to class level or beyond. Spelling is very important, and we use phonics to show pronunciation and diction.
Mathematics is hands on and constantly practicing problem solving. We use co-operative teaching, bringing a mixture of subjects showing the relationship to one particular subject. The students see how subjects are related to each other using graphs. In the library the child learns how to get a book and library skills. The student uses methods learning how to write book reports and to understand the difference in what is a bibliography and what is a biography. The students will incorporate computer skills to do research in the library.
