Hi! My name is Audrey and I am excited about tutoring students! I developed my first ACT Prep course as a senior in high school and have tutored students between first and twelfth grades from different regions of the United States, of differing skill levels and different backgrounds for the past five years. I specialize in ACT preparation, middle and high school mathematics, and organization/general study skills for students of all ages and skill levels. I currently tutor and mentor full-time at a charter school in Chicago and also working toward teacher certification in secondary mathematics. I like to use an asset-based approach when tutoring, working from the student's strengths to increase content knowledge. I also like to use the Socratic method, accessing student knowledge by strategically posing questions that the student can answer based on their own prior knowledge in order to guide them to an understanding of new material based in what is already known. In my tutoring experience, this has proven to be effective, although I am very flexible and can alter my strategies for maximum student comprehension and success. When I am not tutoring or working at school, I like to cook, travel, watch movies, listen to music, and conduct educational research.
