My teaching method is entertaining and interactive. I approach language as a social rather than cerebral activity. That is why I have created animated videos that are fun to watch and easily accessible. These videos serve as a review of the material that I cover and are free for the student. I was a literacy volunteer at Morton College's Operation Care teaching English as a Second Language to Spanish Speakers for over 10 years from 1996 to 2006. I had a language school serving the Spanish Speaking community in achieving citizenship. I have also worked with Medical Professionals who needed to reduce their accent. My method is unique because I fit the class to meet the student rather than having the student fit the class. I help the student develop an ear for English so that it becomes a natural tool for them to express themselves verbally and in writing. I love languages and am dedicated to sparking a love for language.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

English

I teach English to High School and College students as well adult writers who want to improve their writing skills. I cover the following areas:
1. Elementary rules of Usage
2. Elementary principles of Composition
3. A few matters of form
4. Words and expressions commonly misused
5. An approach to style

Spanish

I teach all levels of Spanish keeping the class interesting and interactive. I take you on a journey to a Spanish speaking country where you will learn Spanish recipes, poems, and music. You will learn Spanish grammar, vocabulary, and conversational phrases. Learning a new language has never been so easy and effective than it is now with my unique interactive methodology.

Writing

I focus on understanding the writing process and putting the process into action. With writing, as with tying a shoe, you have to learn many steps. But once you know the steps, you do them automatically, and they seem to blend together. The process gets a lot easier. I also focus on eliminating incorrect usage and grammar so that these areas will no longer be a problem.
