I am a currently a high school math teacher in the Chicago Public School system. I did my certification coursework at Northwestern University. Prior to that, I worked as an actuary for over 30 years. I believe my combination of industry work experience and now in the classroom gives me a unique view of the needs and expectations of students and their potential employers.
My teaching method is to create a student who is a critical thinker, a problem solver. I try to use real world examples whenever possible, and what I wanted in a prospective employee when I was responsible for hiring actuaries at my company.
I use positive reinforcement and engage my students in the learning process by using the inquiry method of learning as much as possible.
