Hi,
I'm 23 years old and recently returned to Chicago after attending Saint Louis University for Marketing. Growing up I was intelligent but struggled in my classes because I learn much better through experience and hands on learning. I think those struggles help me understand why people struggle with certain concepts and subjects and help me relate and teach information in ways better suited to how the individual student prefers to learn. The six psychology classes I took at St. Louis University also helped me to become more intuitive to how individuals process and absorb information.
I've always enjoyed working with kids. During high school I volunteered coaching a 4th grade boys basketball team at St. Clement School. After high school I did a year of service at the Tuloy Sa Don Bosco foundation for street children, which is located outside Manila, Philippines. There I taught and tutored in Math, English and a variety of other subjects along with acting as a "head of house" over a dorm of 30 boys. I also started a basketball program for the younger children.
I am capable and willing to tutor most all subjects at the elementary level as well as most Math courses up to but not including Calculus. I am also available for basketball lessons (negotiable hourly rates).
Thanks for your consideration,
Garrett
