I'm a student at The University of Chicago studying Political Science and Spanish. The son of educators (my mom is a university professor of English and my dad is an elementary school special education teacher), I've worked as a tutor for fifth grade students for three years. After studying for five months in Quito, Ecuador, I'm also fluent in Spanish.

I'm adept at working with students in elementary and middle school. After coaching my brother's U12 soccer team and teaching English classes for 10-14 year-olds in Ecuador, I've become an organized instructor with patience. I'm prepared for my task and responsive to parent input.

I'm an avid student of American history. As a high school junior I excelled in AP U.S. History, earning a score of 5 (out of 5) on the AP examination.

Spanish

I studied Spanish at school from seventh grade until junior year, earning a 4 on the AP Spanish Exam. I improved on this knowledge by participating in a cultural exchange program in Quito, Ecuador, for five months during which I became fluent.

Government & Politics

I avidly follow current events, including the current election cycle. I've also enjoyed studying government in school, earning a score of 5 out of 5 on the advanced placement Government and Politics test.

SAT Reading

I achieved a 780 on my most recent SAT test. I found that improvement is possible with vocabulary and test practice. I can counsel students in effective strategies for the reading section and work with students in vocabulary practice to improve their performance and confidence in this important section of the SAT.

Elementary Math

I've tutored elementary math (at the fifth grade level) for three years. I use example problems, drawings, and oral explanations in my work with students.
