I'm a journalist and author by day, writing for local and national publications and editing a wide range of other writers. From more than a decade of editing experience, I've learned to teach hands-on writing skills to young writers, including high school and college students. My teaching method is driven by constructive criticism and constructive praise - explaining why something is good, or ways to make it better.
I have a master's from Northwestern in journalism and a bachelor's with honors from Indiana in history. I've taught extracurricular American history tutorials for high school students, write about the subject regularly, and teach history through explaining it in narrative form so that students don't just memorize facts but understand the story of history and how events are linked to one another.
