I'm a native Chinese speaker from Shanghai, China. I am now studying in DePaul University majoring in Education. My undergraduate program is Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, which mainly focuses on Chinese linguistics and culture. I have a degree of teaching Chinese and international Chinese teaching certificate.
I used to be a volunteer in Junior Achievement China and taught elementary students about world trade. During my undergraduate years, I had some experiences of teaching international students Chinese in my university, and I also was an after-school tutor. I had a student from America now working in Shanghai who learned Chinese from me, and we two had a lot of fun while communicating Chinese and different cultures.
Last summer, I was working in an English school as a TA and English teacher. It was an unforgettable time with my little kids and I really enjoyed studying and growing with them.
In my own opinion, Chinese teaching is not only about language but also a culture and history study. I would like to be a teacher after graduating and hope to contact with more people who are interested in Chinese. I look forward to the time sharing experience of Chinese learning and teaching in the United States.
