I am a lifelong teacher regardless of the particular assignment or circumstances. I have taught at Loyola, Northwestern and DePaul. My jobs have taken me over many years to Europe, the Middle East, Asia, etc.

I also play in a banjo band regularly and enjoy music generally, from folk to grand opera.

I can bring my broad experience and a wide perspective to bear in the process of understanding what the student needs, and working with the student to fill those needs. It also helps that I am both a parent and grandparent myself, so there isn't much that I haven't already been through.

American History

History has always been my favorite subject. To me, understanding the past gives valuable clues about the present and improves the the odds of being correct in making predictions about the future.

Bar Exam

Preparation for bar examination. I have practiced law for over 45 years, with a focus on technology (computer software) and corporate work both domestic and international. My experience includes 15+ years as general counsel of a NASDAQ corporation with worldwide subs and affiliates. I can bring that breadth of experience to bear in helping candidates with bar exam preparation.

I have worked in business for over forty years, both as a business lawyer and business owner. I have owned and managed real estate properties since 1976 and served as general counsel for a NASDAQ listed corporation with significant operations in the US, Europe and Asia. I have taught investing courses at Northwestern University and DePaul University.

European History

History is my favorite subject. Knowing the past is the best guide to understanding the present and greatly improves the odds of success in making prediction about the future.

I have been interested in geography since childhood and have been fortunate in actually visiting all but one of the 50 United States as well as much of Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa, India and elsewhere. I can bring a broad perspective to the teaching of geography.

Government & Politics

As part of my law practice background, I have participated in the legislative process at the state and federal level. Locally I have also participated in aldermanic and other electoral campaigns. I can bring a "hands on" perspective to the subject in contrast to the usual textbook unreality.

As a practicing lawyer for more than forty years, I can bring a broad perspective to understand the function of the legal system and the role it plays in the larger social, political and economic world of today. My practice has focused on the corporate and technology area, particularly computer software and the worldwide expansion of the use of technology.

I am experienced in international transactions and joint ventures. My travels to work on those transactions spanned many years and exposed me to the different legal systems and attitudes towards law that prevail in this increasingly globalized world.

As a practicing corporate and technology lawyer for more than forty years, I have drafted and reviewed thousands of pages of complex documents which depend upon accuracy and grammatical precision to be valid and effective. This in turn depends on the author and reviewer having thorough proofreading skills.

I can bring that experience to assist others in developing the skill of proofreading, which can be learned and improved.

Like other skills, if properly taught and mastered, proofreading can become a valuable asset in this information age.

I have used Quickbooks for more than 10 years to run my real estate business. I use it to manage all the day to day operations and also to prepare the Profit/Loss statements and Balance Sheets for the various units.

SAT Reading

I have been a voracious reader since childhood and know how to awaken the appetite for reading that opens up the wider world around us. My legal training enables me to identify the issues and logical distinctions that are critical to success in the SAT environment.

SAT Writing

As a practicing lawyer for many years I depend heavily on my writing skills, particularly since the only tool the lawyer has are words!

I can pass those skills on to the student, focusing on the clarity, logic and organization that are critical to success on the SAT writing test.

Study Skills

My background and experience practicing law for over forty years has enabled me to apply the study skills I have learned over those years to the needs of today's students. Organization, time management, step by step progress in small but measurable amounts produces real improvements and more importantly, increases the studunt's confidence in his or her innate ability to succeed.

As an avid reader, writer and practicing lawyer, I have developed a broad vocabulary that I can draw on to assist the student in broadening their own vocabulary. My foreign language skills also help me in explaining the nuances and various meanings of many words in the vast vocabulary of the English language.

World History

History is my favorite subject. Knowing the past is the best guide for understanding the present and is indispensable for making reasonable judgments about the future. I have been fortunate enough to have traveled extensively abroad and can bring that experience to bear in tutoring about world history.
