If you're looking for a tutor who is knowledgeable about subject matter but also recognizes the needs of each individual student, you've found your guy!
My approach to tutoring recognizes not only the need to address and go over material but focuses on the opportunity to identify and address what is truly causing a student to struggle. If I can help the student to develop a different way to study or a new approach to a type of material that will help them succeed numerous times in the future, I'd rather do that than spend time running over material in the same manner which has caused the them to seek tutoring in the first place.
As an individual who has succeeded and excelled in both secondary and post-secondary education with dyslexia I feel I have a unique perspective and insight to share with students in similar situations. Even if you or your child is not diagnosed with a learning disability and you feel that the one-size-fits-all approach is just simply not working, I feel this approach will be a breath of fresh air. Often you just need to look at something a little differently in order to succeed or excel where you have always struggled. I am comfortable working through each student's challenges with patience and care, taking time to listen to their needs. I offer guidance and options to help them build tools that can propel them forward in their education.
More traditional tutoring is also available including, study help, concept based note taking instruction, proofreading, and public speaking instruction.
