I am a licensed CPA in Illinois with 15 years of accounting experience. I have worked in manufacturing, non-profit organizations, governmental accounting, and CPA firms. I am a certified fraud examiner and have been (in the past) certified as a business valuation analyst. I also have a masters degree in management from Duke University.
Through work with accounting interns (5), I have had experience teaching accounting students. My approach involves understanding how students learn (not everyone learns in the same way), and then I try to fit my teaching into the student's approach to learning. I always try to take difficult concepts and make them simple. Building confidence in a student is important, and in the long run, the student needs to be able to find answers/solutions to accounting problems on their own.
I assume that students will take their accounting education seriously, and that they will do assignments in a timely manner and be reliable in attending agreed upon tutoring sessions.
