I'm an accomplished guitarist with a bachelor's degree in Performance Jazz guitar looking to expand my studio. I have over ten years experience teaching students ranging in age from 6-50. I can play and teach styles ranging from classical to rock....R&B to Bluegrass. My teaching style is flexible and I'm very patient. My roots are in Jazz and Blues, but I have played in orchestras, tribute bands, reggae, soul, funk, and rock bands.

Violin is my second instrument. I've played since the age of 5 and studied for many years. Over the past 5 years I have focused more on guitar, but am able to tutor and teach the violin as well.

I've played soccer at the college level and can help your child with their soccer skills. I'm very patient with children and connect easily with them.

I received my bachelors degree in jazz guitar from Oberlin Conservatory with a minor in ethnomusicology. I also play violin and a little piano (a must for composers). I compose and arrange music for string orchestras, bands (popular and traditional), and jazz ensembles. One of my compositions was featured in "JazzIs" magazine.

Ear Training

I studied Jazz guitar at Oberlin Conservatory. The program included a thorough study of music theory, aural skills, and jazz aural skills. With all of my guitar and violin students I help them to develop their inner ear. This includes matching pitches, interval recognition, scale recognition, harmony recognition, and internalizing chord progressions and melodies. I perform in a variety of bands. I am a skilled improvisor and use my ear to transcribe songs with ease.

General Music

I've been teaching guitar and violin for over 13 years. I believe in cultivating the complete musician. That includes ear training, music reading, singing, playing, and simply having fun with music. I've played soccer since the age of 10. I played in high school and was conference player of the year my junior year. I also played all 4 years at Oberlin College, where I was team captain my senior year.

Violin

I've played violin since the age of 5. I'm pursuing a masters degree in music education at Vandercook College of Music. I currently teach several children violin around the Chicago area.

Songwriting

I write songs in the genres of R&B/Funk/Soul/Blues. I have a diverse musical background and a great ear. I'm easy to work with and I can help flesh out and develop compositions. I was a featured composer in JazzIs magazine.
