As a college graduate, I have a degree in journalism and have earned chemistry and biology minors. I also graduated with University Honors that included a demanding thesis project. I have at least five years of tutoring experience teaching pre-college and college students across the northern Illinois region.
I have one and half years plus teaching students with specials needs and learning disabilities. My first job out of college was working at an autism school helping children with severe delays and learning disabilities pass their classes and become more functionally independent. This included at the elementary, junior high, and high school levels.
In college I also tutored students with special needs, learning disabilities, and disadvantaged students for five years. I tutored anyone from freshman year to senior year and beyond in specific courses. For instance, I taught a lot of pre-college and various general education courses in the 101 category. At times, I tutored students from all different general education courses because I taught writing and English-- in every general education course there is of course papers, midterms, and final exam presentations and or writing projects! I tutored subjects ranging in chemistry from basic, general, and organic chemistry. Biology courses including anatomy, physiology, and all levels of basic biology.
At one point, I even tutored physics. I specialized in helping students from dysfunctional backgrounds and helping them to not only pass their classes but reach for the major and profession of their dreams. My style is to help the student learn and grow and not only improve their weaknesses but advance their strengths. My style definitely takes a lot of patience which I have an abundance of thankfully!
Worried about not passing your classes? Is your son or daughter struggling with their schoolwork? School can be stressful. With proper study skills and patience, I have been able to help students from freshman to seniors brush up on their skills. I have also helped high school students receive high honors. I help students not only survive their semester, but help them achieve the highest grade possible.
I also specialize in college application and scholarship writing strategy. It's never too late to go to college and to apply for scholarships. Yes, great grades and outstanding SAT/ACT scores do help. But any child with proper mentoring and marketing can be accepted into college and be considered for scholarships. I personally know this for I have been awarded over $250,000 in scholarships and grants during my college career.
I look forward to meeting you!
