With three graduate degrees in education (MEd), business (MBA), and finance (MS), I have worked as an educator, writer, editor, researcher, marketer, financial analyst, and artist. I grew up in Hawaii and have worked in Washington, D.C. and am currently living and working in Chicago. While in Hawaii, I tutored students in reading, English grammar, composition, and English as a second language. I have experience tutoring children and adults with reading disabilities. In my corporate career, I worked on proposals, marketing collateral materials, technical reports, and research materials for engineering and management consulting firms. In the financial industry, I worked as an analyst and researcher, passed the CFA Level 1 exam and studied for the Level 2 exam before leaving the industry. I did some freelance writing, editing, and research work for two university finance professors and worked as a researcher for a technology startup. I have created two blogs about arts, culture, and lifestyle in Chicago and have written several articles about Chicago for local papers and a prominent social networking site. For the past few years I have been studying art at various local schools, and I have been working as a freelance writer and researcher. I am in the process of writing and illustrating children’s books, which I hope to publish in a few years. My interests include writing, reading (world literature), art (watercolor and acrylic painting), playing the piano, and yoga.
