Hello! Welcome to my profile.

I'll start with a little bit about myself, and then list my proficiencies.

I am in school currently, pursuing a degree in Photography from Columbia College Chicago. I've been taking pictures since I was very young, but I never considered it as a potential career until recently. Technology is my other interest, and while pursuing a degree in I.T. I took a photography course; I was hooked immediately. I started taking hundreds of thousands of pictures - of animals, of people, basically anything that I found interesting. My aptitude for numbers and math allowed me to pick up very quickly on correct exposures, and due to my tech background I was already a very experienced user of photo-editing programs. I switched majors, switched colleges, and finally moved to Chicago, drawn to the city by the Photography and art scene that is going on. I've learned a lot since I started my studies two years ago.

I have been using photo editing programs since 1999. I can advise students on color correction, clone-stamping, warping, face alteration, and the proper use of layers.

Self-training with GIMP and Photoshop Elements since age 12. My experience lies mostly in compositing and color correcting photos. Masking and use of the selection tool are some of my specialties. I have taken two courses to date on Photoshop CS2, and can translate my knowledge of color correction and traditional photography technique into Photoshop very easily.

Photography

I am entering my third year at Columbia College Chicago in their photography BA program. I have studied at the Art Institute of Washington (for their photographic imaging degree), and interned at a defense contracting firm doing industrial photography for 4 years before that.
