Hello there! I believe in the investigative approach to tutoring. Through questions, dialogue, and discovery, my goal is to serve as a resource and navigator so that my students can uncover for themselves the answers they seek, and take pride in their ability to make such achievements.
I graduated magna cum laude from New York University with a degree in Cinema Studies and History (high honors), where I was also inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. I began tutoring English as a second language to high school students while I was a freshman, and I subsequently volunteered for two years at the International Center of New York as a conversational English tutor. In the summer of 2006, I taught English for a month in Western Ukraine, one of my most rewarding experiences to date.
I recently completed my graduate degree program, and have received a Master of Fine Arts in Writing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where I also studied photography and installation art. I volunteered for two years at 826 Chi, which is a non-profit tutoring center serving students ages K-12, and so have experience working with students of various ages and disciplines.
As a writer, artist, and life-time learner myself, I understand the various types of learning and enjoy working with students of all learning styles. Creativity and knowledge are forever intertwined, and learning does not need to be boring!
I hope this gave you a sense of who I am and how I work. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
