I am a good teacher. But given the opportunity to teach subjects of my choice, I am transformed into a great, dynamic teacher. I am a massage therapist by trade. I am semi-retired and now do more teaching than massaging people. I graduated in 1987 from the Chicago School of Massage Therapy, completing over 500 hours of training, becoming a certified licensed full time massage therapist.
My training consisted of anatomy, physiology, biology, pathology, psychology, massage techniques, fitness, body toning, kinesiology, shiatsu and foot reflexology. I focused in on basic Swedish massage, shiatsu, fitness and body toning. I became proficient in these and gifted I designed a basic massage training course and began teaching small groups. I submitted my course material to the Chicago Community Colleges and was hired in 1996. I currently teach fourteen hours a week now.
Tutoring: I offer an after class tutoring program named study hall practice sessions. I put students through drills and exercises to condition them to do massage. I conduct a study hall session once a week for two hours, using a dance routine to the sound of pop music to make the routine fun.
I graduated from George Williams College with a BS degree in physical education and health education. I learned how to teach exercises, bodybuilding and weight lifting. Shortly after college I began weightlifting and building my body up to the point that I was encouraged to enter into a bodybuilding contest. I taught bodybuilding at a Salvation Army gym, and taught one-on-one training. I have received several certificates, awards and trophies from students and various organizations.
My course consists of how to knowledge that can't be found in massage schools. I love massage, and I teach from my heart because I've been there and done that. I have two courses, Basic Swedish Massage parts 1 and 2 and the advanced course, Therapeutic 1 and 2. My training methods are my own DVDs with me demonstrating all of the techniques.
My tutoring approach is first to be a good example that I practice what I teach.
I became fascinated with bodybuilding 20 years ago after training at the local Y.M.C.A. I began to coach and train others in the art of concentrating on one muscle group at a time. Then working another muscle group until each muscle group has been developed to its maximum potential. I trained myself to have that distinct bodybuilders look.
I taught bodybuilding at the Salvation Army gym and the HYDE Park Athletic Club. I currently teach one on one personal bodybuilding training.
I have an AA degree from Kennedy King College in physical education. I have studied many books and magazines on the art and science of bodybuilding.
I taught physical education at the Better Boys Foundation. I was there for 2 years and taught weight lifting, exercise routines to build muscle, and health improvement methods. I designed and wrote specific exercises for specific needs. I practice what I teach. I am in excellent physical health. My exercise routines are unique in the sense that they are easy to do. I pride myself in being able to design exercise routines for whole families. I am currently teaching a fitness class to aspiring students to condition them to become massage therapists.

I entered into the world of nutrition through a life and death experience. I was slowly dying on the streets of Chicago from malnutrition. I was literally dying from a diet of junk foods, such as hot dogs, potato chips, soda pops, candy and in some cases no food at all. I discovered the difference in foods after being drafted into the United States Army. This is where I went from a 150 lbs. wreck to a 190 lbs. physically fit soldier. This happened in a four mos. period of time. I was so amazed with this transformation that I began to read every book about nutrition that I could get my hands on. I took correspondence courses on how to eat to build your body. After 3 yrs., I began to council others on what not to eat. After I was honorably discharged I weighed 210 lbs.. I felt compelled to share my experience with others.
In order to get a better understanding about nutrition. I entered and received a Doctor of Science degree from The Clayton College of Natural Healing. I began teaching others how to fast, detox, and cleanse the body to prepare it for longevity.
The conventional way off exercising with heavy weights and jogging, created a lot of pain in my joints. I began seeking ways to exercise and stay in shape without the pain. This led me to studying books on yoga which led to programs of instructional courses in yoga theory and postures. As I became proficient in yoga, it replaced my weightlifting exercise routine. The more I exercised with yoga and begin to enjoy the wonderful benefits; I felt compelled to share this with others. I designed an exercise routine consisting of a mixture of yoga postures and conventional exercises.
I endeavored to obtain a profound degree of the connection between mind, body and soul. I was looking for a yoga resort retreat to learn meditation. While there visiting their library I studied some of the works of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and Dr. Deepak Chopra, M.D.. It was Dr. Chopra that advised me to visit one of the Maharishi Mahesh's health centers called the Raj in Fairfield, Iowa. This is where I became certified in yoga and meditation. I inquired from my instructor about knowledge that would slow the aging process down. I was referred to a Yogi in India. Through corresponding with him he became my teacher and imparted to me a series of secret yoga postures thousands of years old. He instructed me to teach these yoga postures to the western world. I have slightly modified them to make them easier to do and I am now currently teaching these postures.
