I'm currently a University of Chicago PhD student in American history. After graduating from Amherst college, I joined Teach for America (TFA) and spent my post-graduate year teaching global history to 9th and 10th grade students. While teaching my students, I was able to strengthen my skills as an instructor as I worked to meet the needs of a variety of students and helped them to improve on their grammar and writing. After my time with TFA, I continued to mentor and tutor some of my former students as a volunteer with a group called Minds Matter.
Given my experience as a graduate student at Columbia, my history and English knowledge bases have broadened and my aptitude in writing academic papers has improved as well. I look forward to helping other students improve upon these skills and others as we work on their school subjects and finesse papers. I'm passionate about learning and I look forward to sharing this with the students I tutor.
