Career Development

I counseled individuals involved in mass layoffs, as well as delivered 3-day resume and interviewing workshops for Drake Beam Morin, an internationally known outplacement firm. I received the Stellar Performance Award for my commitment and results helping people to become more successful in their job searches.

College Counseling

If a student is undecided, I have administered assessment tests and counseled individuals to help find the path that best suits their skills and talents. I have also guided people through my syndicated column, At Work.

ESL/ESOL

I have tutored ESL college students, achieving positive results in helping them improve both their written and verbal language skills.

Public Speaking

I was a regular guest on TV38, a Christian station featuring a talk show called "Among Friends." I appeared every three weeks to answer viewers' workplace problems.

Study Skills

I teach study skills in the Foundation Portfolio course at the Illinois Institute of Art. I designed this course to introduce students from diverse backgrounds to academic skills, career skills, and life skills.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
