I have just finished my master's degree in Medieval Studies at the University of York in England. My dissertation was about Vikings, but I have studied many different periods of history. While studying in England I had the opportunity to travel and see many of the sites I was learning about, this experience would allow me to bring history to life for anyone I was tutoring with eyewitness descriptions. For my undergraduate degree at Loyola University Chicago I double majored in History and Classics while triple minoring in Latin, anthropology, and medieval studies. I want to teach history at the university level after getting my PhD. I am moving home to Cincinnati for a year before starting my PhD, and would love to have the opportunity to tutor during that year. My life goal is to be able to share my love of history with students, and I love all opportunities I receive to pursue this goal. My tutoring method is to work closely with the student to identify any issues they may be having, then we start with the basics and slowly build towards the more complicated issues in history. Helping people in the past, I have discovered that sometimes all you need is extra time spent with a tutor and other times more creative solutions are needed such as mapping out historical events in picture form or unique mnemonic devices. I will work with each client to come up with the best approach to reach their desired outcomes.
