My name is Anis. I am 27 years of age. I also enjoy playing soccer. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, minor in Chemistry, a Certificate in Conflict Transformation and a Certificate in Medical Interpreting. I took a variety of courses in college, including organic and non-organic chemistry, biochemistry, anatomy, physiology, cell biology, genetics, molecular biology, calculus, physics, zoology, botany and much more.
I tutored for a lot of the science courses throughout college. I also received the Educator Award from North Park University in 2006. I love to simplify the material for students and explain what they do not understand.
I am a part time Arabic language instructor at North Park University in Chicago. I teach Arabic for non-native speakers. Teaching Arabic in a classroom setting is a great asset that enables me to understand students more. Throughout my teaching experience in Arabic and science, I realized that students want to focus on the BIG PICTURE, and then start filling the details.
What do I mean by the Big PICTURE? Students often get lost once the instructor starts explaining the materials in details. My method is to keep reminding the students what the major goals are and where the little details fit in the Big Picture that they are trying to learn. Take the example of physiology, some students think it’s a complicated subject, I agree, but if you keep in mind that the Human Body is “trying to maintain Homeostasis (Balance) in the Body” then the study of Physiology will become easier.
I have different teaching styles for each subject and my teaching style varies from one student to another. I also focus on the Big Picture, my Big Picture is to “explain the material to the student in a way he or she understands it”.
Finally, I am looking forward to being your tutor. My first priority is to help you succeed and achieve your academic potential.
Sincerely,
Anis
