Hi, I'm Danielle! I'm excited to have the opportunity to teach you English!
I am a qualified/certified (CELTA)/experienced English teacher. I have over 5 years of experience teaching privately, and over 3 years of experience teaching at private and public schools in Italy and in the United States. At the moment I am currently employed at an International school in the Chicagoland area where I teach English to students from all over the world!
My experience encompasses all ages, from children to adults, including all levels of English language learners, from elementary to proficiency (including levels A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2 of the European framework.) I also specialize in Cambridge exam preparation (KET, PET, FCE, CAE) and am also familiar with the IELTS and TOEFL exams.
I tailor all of my lessons to meet your specific needs! I provide all didactic materials (books, cds, etc.) and try to include as many communicative activities, games, technology, etc. as possible to make your learning experience dynamic and fun! I also focus as much as I can on conversation and speaking skills seeing as though they are the most important skills for language learners, and can only be improved by speaking with native speakers!
Below please find some of my experience.
I hope to hear from you very soon!
This is my International Experience. I worked as an EFL teacher at Darby School of Languages and British School of English from October 2010 to June 2013. While there increased students’ receptive and productive skills with special attention to strengthening oral, communicative and conversational skills through various activities, role-play and games. I also created and incorporated supplemental material including songs and communicative activities, utilizing diverse forms of technology and actuality in order to engage students, maintain their interest and provide an interactive, dynamic and enjoyable atmosphere that they can actively relate to. I constantly collaborated with a team of teachers in order to analyze students’ needs, strengths and weaknesses and learning styles with the objective of developing and adapting diverse curriculum to effectively meet the needs of each student’s learning style and ability while simultaneously reflecting their interests. I was also able to maintain a 100% success rate of students who effectively completed and passed the Cambridge and Trinity exam while creating a trusting atmosphere and build a friendly, yet professional rapport with a variety of students and families from diverse cultural backgrounds and consistently evaluating students’ progress with the purpose of completing course reports and conducting parent-teacher meetings to discuss students’ skills, strong points and problem areas, improvements and future English
language learning goals as well as allow parents to actively participate in their child’s learning process.
As an EFL Teacher and Camp Counselor at the Berlitz summer camp, I planned and conducted morning lessons that were fun and engaging for a variety of levels of English learners, focusing particularly on each student’s aptitude, learning goals and interests. I established a safe and trusting environment and took primary responsibility for the health, well being and happiness of campers in an international setting while managing any conflicts and maintaining constant interaction with parents so as to make the camp experience enjoyable for all students. I also designed and executed afternoon and evening activities with other teachers while supervising and actively participating in all aspects of the campers’ day.
