Hello! My name is Ben and I am here to help you learn in a fun, positive environment. I am committed to helping people of all ages achieve their educational goals and reach a greater level of learning.
I graduated in 2008 from North Park University Chicago with a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish and International Studies. During this time, I studied in Morelia, Mexico for a semester, living with a Mexican family and interning at a local orphanage. In order to supplement my education, I also completed one year of studies at Covenant Bible College in Quito, Ecuador.
Throughout the years, I have much experience in education and tutoring. As far back as high school, I volunteered as a tutor for fellow students as part of the National Honor Society. While interning at the orphanage in Mexico, I often tutored the children in all subject areas. More recently, I was employed as a Spanish and Math tutor at North Park University for three years. For the 2008-2009 school year, I worked at an elementary school in Los Angeles as a Teacher's Aid. As an aid I taught mathematics to a small group of seventh graders and spent much time tutoring students in reading, writing, and math.
My teaching style is hands-on and fun, and will cover all necessary subject areas. I can help with learning new concepts, with testing, with studying, with homework, and more. My day-to-day style will depend on the subject. I am patient and willing to work to meet the student's needs and answer their questions. I believe that there is much value in education when the student discovers and learns answers on their own, so I often teach by asking questions and challenging students on an appropriate level. I am very sensitive to student frustrations and progress, and plan my lessons accordingly.
I would love to work with anyone for any need. Please contact me if you are interested. Thanks!
