I spent most of my childhood and teenage years in Brazil and am fluent in Portuguese. My first reading language was Portuguese, and I learned grammar in Brazilian schools. I can help you master spoken and written Portuguese and give you the tools to use it in any context.
In my three years of college education, I studied French and became fluent in Spanish, and I've been able to gain valuable perspectives from the teaching methods of my professors. I've taught Portuguese to a variety of students, from professionals planning to relocate to Brazil, to those studying the language just for pleasure. For the past 2 years, I've also taught group courses of all levels at a school called Brazil in Chicago.
My approach to teaching combines self-study with personal tutoring. You will have the flexibility you need by completing regularly assigned homework on your own time, while I will expand upon the assignments and provide feedback during the lessons. I believe that the best learning method is to start from square one, by learning vocabulary and developing a basic understanding of grammar. I will help you "fill in the gaps" through creative reading, writing, and pronunciation activities. I'll provide accountability and flexibility, adjusting to your needs and ensuring satisfactory results.
